SPOT Users Rescued from Snowed in Campsite

RESCUE PROFILE: SPOT Users
SPOT Users A SPOT user recently activated the SOS alert on their messenger device.  SPOT Partner, FocusPoint, communicated with the device user and was informed that her daughter and a friend were camping in a remote area in British Columbia and became snowed in due to harsh weather conditions.

Rescue Response Coordinator, FocusPoint, then contacted Jasper National Park Search & Rescue (SAR) and informed them of the situation. The local SAR Agency were provided with the geo-coordinates of the women and a live tracking link of their current location. A rescue helicopter was dispatched to the location of the campers who were completely unable to exit the campgrounds.

The rescue helicopter (using the live tracking link supplied to them) located the two women and were able to safely evacuate them and transport them to a safe location.  Thanks to SPOT, the campers were treated for minor dehydration and then released.
