My rescue story.
On 11/26/2010 I was snowmobiling up at Rabbit ears pass,
Colorado. We we 10 miles from the trail head in the back country. At about 3 pm
I crashed my sled & broke my right femur in TWO places. I activated my spot 911
button. 4 of the group stayed with me, 2 rode about 2 or 3 miles untill they
could get get cell phone service. They were talking to Routt county search &
rescue the same time Geosalliance (spot)was. When Routt county heard it was a
femur break, they called for "flight for life" out of Frisco 75 miles
away. SAR got to me about 10 minutes before flight for life. It was now close to
5:30 pm, getting dark and about zero degrees. I was very cold, very scared and
in very much pain. My friends built a fire near me to try & keep me warm. They
loaded me in the chopper & few back to Frisco. I was there my 6:15. I had
emergency surgery that night in Frisco. I now have alot of very expensive
titanium in my right leg.
I had paid the extra $12.95/year for the $100,000 in
emergency rescue insurance. My flight for life cost $21,880. I am praying to
god that the optional spot insurance coveres it. If it does, it will be the best
$12.95 I ever spent in my life.
thank you,
Bill DeLaCroix

I've had great success and a lot of fun with my SPOT during hunting season. My
family and friends enjoyed getting my E-Mails and Topo locations. SPOT picked up
signals immediately and sent E-Mails right away. The Tracker system is excellent
too.

I used Spot on my X country motorcycle trip this past Summer. I was away from
home for 2 months and traveled over 9 thousand miles. Spot was used almost every
day. It kept my friends and family informed the entire time. When I left on my
adventure, I had 7 followers. Word soon spread and I had over 35 Followers! It
was an amazing experience to share my trip with so many folks. They enjoyed
seeing my progress each day. Thanks to Spot I felt very secure and my family was
not worried about my safety.

So far no need to use for an emergency but I love the Tracking feature. This
year (for Christmas) I bought a new unit for each of my adult sons - now I don't
have to 'loan' mine to them when they take their cycle trips without me.
Looking for to the next time I use mine.
