The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route is described as the “battle royale” that “braves mountain passes and windswept valleys of the Continental Divide from hinterlands of the Canadian Rockies to badlands of the Mexican Plateau.” With one single mammoth stage of 2,745 miles, this race is as huge as the West. Starting in Banff, Alberta, Canada and finishing in Antelope Wells, New Mexico, this self-supported mountain bike race took off on June 10 and the participants are well on their way to New Mexico. Tour Divide holds some major credibility because there are no prizes: just passionate riders with blood, sweat and tears. Check it out as the clock runs non-stop!

GPS Tools can keep you safe on summer outings
By Kim Komando of CyberSpeak
Kim Komando, a respected tech blogger, included SPOT in her editorial about different GPS devices that can help keep you safe this summer during your next adventure. Check it out at here.
Here’s a cool organization, Offroad Passport, that integrated SPOT units in their off-road website by using SPOTadventures.com accounts that allow everyone in their club to follow their adventures. Anyone can set up a SPOT Adventures Account. Get creative with how you use SPOT Adventures. See how Offroad Passport did it here!
Dale, a retired community college administrator and instructor, is an avid hiker, backpacker and cyclist. At the age of 67, he now spends most of his free time hiking through the backcountry of Oregon and California alone and with fellow backpackers.
Like many hikers, Dale often worried about connectivity during his travels. This is why SPOT peaked his interest when reading one of his favorite magazines. Soon after, Dale visited REI to purchase his first SPOT device. In celebration of Memorial Day, Dale and 7 other hikers ranging from ages 51 to 74 decided to take a five day trip to Mattole Beach Campground near Petrolia, California. This time, he made sure to add his new SPOT Gen 3™ as a "must bring" item.
